First week of school is done!  We will be celebrating with pizza and a movie.  It’s been nice to get back to routine.  It’s good for me and the kids and I think even for Tim.  Nothing super exciting to tell you about.  I want to go to the Farmer’s Market tomorrow and get some peaches.  Need/want to make some jam.  Yes, you heard me right, MORE jam.  The 64 jars of strawberry jam I did in July just aren’t enough.  Tim has a 20km run scheduled for Sunday morning so I thought I would spoil him with some high calorie.  Last weekend with a long run before Melissa’s down in Banff.

Riley so far is quite happy with his turkey sandwich I’ve been packing him.  I tried to feed him some sunflower seed butter last night to see if he would take it as a substitute at school for PB & J.  With some tinkering I believe it would suitable.  He’s not a fan of crunchy or of pure blended up natural any nut.  He much prefers the sugar laden stuff.  What a surprise, hah.  I’m planning on doing some soups this winter for him to take.  Alphabet, vegetable, chicken noodle, rice and turkey, maybe even some chili.  I think he will like those during the winter months with some crackers and cheese curds or a cheese stick.  I know I would.  I have missed him during the day but then I pick up my blood sugar crashing child because he refuses to eat his afternoon snack at recess and all the lovey thoughts are gone and what I’m left with is a ravenous child  who complains all the way home.  I can’t blame him though, he gets his wicked tonged and sass from me.  I’ve been giving it out for years when my blood sugar crashes I guess this is payback.  Ah well, I’m sure we’ll figure it out in the next week or so on how to deal with the afternoon crash.  Here are two of his lunches I packed this week.  I forgot to take a picture today and of course the first day.  The second picture is a little more complete of what I have been sending.  Lunch this week has consisted of a turkey sandwich with cheese and lettuce, blueberry muffin, fruit, cucumber slices, a laughing cow and cracker pack, and a granola bar.  I’ve also put a frozen juice box in the last two days.  Trying to battle the grumpy mood on the way home.  Yes, I know that juice is just sugar in liquid form.  He also has a small water bottle he’s been taking every day.  Very unexciting but I haven’t totally hit my groove with lunch packing yet.

Lunch 1   Lunch 2

That’s about all this week.  I got a bathing suit *shudder*.  I haven’t figured out my school groove yet and I desperately need a new coffee machine.  See you next week!

Oh, by the way if you are wondering what TLC stands for in the meal plan it’s The Looneyspoons Collection.
